30+ Years of Experience In Sod Distribution and Installation in Georgia

Atlanta Sod Company

Sod or turf is grass and the part of the soil beneath it held together by its roots or another piece of thin material. In other English speaking countries, such material is more usually known as turf, and the word “sod” is limited mainly to agricultural senses.

Sod is typically used for lawns, golf courses, and sports stadiums around the world. In Georgia residential construction, it is sold to landscapers, home builders or homeowners who use it to establish a lawn quickly and avoid soil erosion. Sod can be used to repair a small area of lawn, golf course, or athletic field that has died. Sod is also effective in increasing cooling, improving air and water quality, and assisting in flood prevention by draining water.

Different types of Sods in Georgia:

The Walk Through

Grading is finished, soil is prepared, and the sod is here! Before we start laying your sod we like to use landscape paint to design your curves and borders. Here we also will test your irrigation to ensure that we haven’t damaged any lines or heads during the grading process. If any damage is found we will fix it immediately for no charge.

Installation of Sod

This is our favorite part! Our crews install anywhere from 10-60 pallets a day. We always place the sod pieces tight against each other in a checker board pattern. Larger installations will use mega rolls. Once the sod is layed each yard is rolled with our weighted lawn roller. This ensures all air pockets and pushed out and the sod adheres to the soil.

Site Clean Up & Final Walk Through

Towards the end of the job we encourage our clients to do a final walk through to verify the job and details to ensure the end result is up to expectation. At this point we will hand you a two page document with sod care tips and recommendations on which company to use for your ongoing chemical treatments. The end result is a beautiful lawn to be enjoyed for years to come!
