Japanese Native
Meyer Zoysia sod is one of the original zoysia’s native to Japan that no longer is licensed or has strict growing regulations. That being said, Meyer Zoysia still continues to be widely used on golf courses and residential lawns throughout the Southeast. Meyer sod combines soft to the touch feel with lush green color and tight blade growth. Visually, Meyer has a blade width that is considered “medium”. In between the Emerald and Empire Zoysia. Homeowners and Property Managers also appreciate its many maintenance, environmental, and cost saving advantages. Meyer Zoysia sod is available for sale and installation.

Requirements, Irrigation & Characteristics
Light Requirements:
Meyer Zoysia has moderate to good shade tolerance but grows best in full sun. Meyer Zoysia can tolerate as little as 5 hours of sun per day. Meyer Zoysia grass does not perform well around the root systems of large trees so is not suitable as an underplanting in these areas. It would be best to plant an ornamental groundcover plant under a large tree.
Irrigation:
Though drought tolerant, to maintain a healthy appearance during the hottest months of summer, Meyer Zoysia needs about 1 to 1 1/4 inches of water a week. On sandy soils it often requires more frequent watering, for example, 1/2 inch of water every third day. A light green-grey color and narrowing of leaves indicate that it is time to water.
